This past year has felt somehow both fast…and slow. My skin has improved drastically, and I’m currently enjoying a two-week-long pimple-free streak *knocks on wood*. Thank you all for the positive response to my recent, slightly-less-superficial-than-usual Instagram post. I’m glad that it resonated with a couple of you, and I hope Asian beauty will help even more of you inside and out, the way it has done for me!

I don't take unobstructed full-face photos very often, although I'm honestly no longer overly self-conscious about how my face looks, for various internal and external reasons. But what I really want to share is that my skin hasn't FELT this great in years. I mean, it didn't really feel like anything in the past, you know? All that means is that I literally didn't know what I was missing until I started using Asian beauty/skincare products. 🍄 Many folks in the #abcommunity say this, and it rings true for me too: Psychologically, AB has done so much to make me healthier, more conscientious about my habits, and more eager to do more for my own well-being. It starts from understanding that you shouldn't punish your skin for being imperfect (a terrible habit seemingly ingrained by much of the American and European skincare industry). Beside this, I'm learning that I have a habit of depriving myself of happiness as punishment for making a mistake or falling short of my own expectations of myself. I have impossible standards for myself and I don't want to overhaul that necessarily, but I have to change how I act on them. What I'm trying to say is, all of this is a happy, unexpected result of incorporating AB in my life. 🍄 The only downside is, the money I would have saved with my AB routine all went into sheet masks and that perpetual excuse, "but I have to blog about it!" 🍄 #rAsianBeauty #bblogger #bbloggers #abbloggers #skincareblogger #blogger #beautyblogger #instablogger #asianskincare #skincare #kbeauty #koreanbeauty #nomakeup #lol #canon

On that note, September’s almost over and fall is upon us. But before summer totally ends, I haven’t forgotten the most important thing to celebrate…you!

I wanted to start this fall/winter—not that we have clearly delineated “seasons” here in Hawaiʻi—by thanking all of you for your support. You’ve listened to my miscellaneous ramblings and partook in my absurd antics. We’ve shared many a suffering and many a laugh. I’ve met so many of you through WordPress, Instagram, Facebook, and Reddit (both online and in real life!), and I have yet to find a community like the AB community. Everyone has been so kind, generous, and hilarious; we’ve shared experiences, traded masks and decants, and I can’t wait to share more with you!

My content has been the slow and steady type lately because I’m trying to focus on increasing the quality of my posts, rather than hashing out numerous quickly-scribbled posts. I’m still getting into this improved rhythm, so thank you for being patient with me! You probably remember that I’d declared 2016 my Year of the Sheet Masks, and I’m happy to say it’s been going very well! Many of you have introduced me to some favorites, and I’ve been vigilant about discovering more potential go-to masks that are lesser-known.

All of this to say, to celebrate this past year with you, I’m giving away a little slice of A River Lily!
