Around last month, YesStyle.com had a huge Beauty Sale! I decided to take this opportunity to stock up on their decently-priced masks and other knickknacks.
Although I’ve noticed that their site-wide prices have been increasing very gradually over the years, I still like to check every now and then for their clearance sales and special offers. And I’m glad I did, because this was my chance to score some sweet, sweet items I’ve been eyeing pretty hard lately.
The Damage:
It wasn’t as bad as usual. Remember when YesStyle’s minimum purchase amount for free shipping used to be somewhere around $70? Actually, did I dream that? The minimum was $35, and I spent about $37. While YesStyle’s items’ quality is pretty hit-or-miss, this time around, I feel that I got my money’s worth.
The Things:
1. Macaron Contact Lens Case (Green)
(US$3.84) This was what I call the “shipping item”: I didn’t actually have this on my wishlist, but it helped me get to the amount I needed for free shipping. And I don’t mind going over a couple of dollars if it means I get this delicious adorable and functional contact lens case! Yum. It comes with the actual contact lens case, a little bottle for solution, some teeny tweezers, and a mini-suctiony stick thing to remove the lens from your eyes, I presume. Hmm.
2. My Scheming Mask Book Series – Chapter 1: Invisible Legend (Attention! Aqua Fantasia) –
Hyaluronan Hydrating, Snail Essence Hydrating, Rose Dew Moisturizing, and Apple Brightening & Hydrating Masks (10 total)
(US$11.56) Hnnng. These gorgeous Mask Book boxes made my heart soar. (They got a bit squished in transit, though.) I love books, and I love that the boxes kind of remind me of one of my favorite childhood animes, Cardcaptor Sakura. I half-expected this to happen when I opened the box.
Anyway, here’s what I got instead:

It seems these “flavors” really do target hydration and moisture. I have only ever tried the snail one, which is my current HG mask. I can’t wait to try the Apple and Rose Dew ones! This is definitely my Year of the Sheet Masks. And now, I can continue this insanity with more. If you haven’t gotten on the Taiwanese sheet mask train yet, I suggest you hop on soon before I mask all of the sheets. ALL OF THEM.
3. My Scheming Mask Book Series – Chapter 2: Invisible Legend (The Power of Dark! Seal Released!) – Mandelic Acid Brightening, 7-in-1 Brightening Essence, L-Ascorbic Acid Brightening, and Skin Clarifying Astringent Masks (10 total)
(US$11.56) I said ALL OF THEM, didn’t I? I just love variety packs. ‘Tis the spice of that sheet mask life. Although these were a few dollars more than the single-type boxes of My Scheming, getting this variety of masks was worth it to me. I’ve read up a ton on mandelic acid, and of course vitamin C is practically a staple in skincare, so I’m hoping these can help alleviate the appearance of my post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH).
Expect some proper reviews on these masks as I try these Mask Books out!
4. Etude House Save Cushion Case, Emperor Penguin

-throws shade on Etude House’s shortage of darker foundation shades-
(US$10.39) Actually, the listing says “Emporer Penguin.” Eyy, whatever floats your Antarctica.
The Etude House Save Cushion Case series was specially designed by artist 성실화랑 (Sungsil Hwarang; Korean site/shop). Currently, this comes in Bridled Nail-tail Wallaby, Emperor Penguin, Sand Cat, and Siberian Weasel designs.
As a former design student, I can’t help but appreciate the style. It is simple and straightforward, yet absolutely adorable and thoughtful. And how fitting: The design firm’s name is translatable to “Sincerity Gallery”! Of course, language translation is complex and all of that, so connotations can be completely different. Still! The packaging on the Save Cushion Case says:
“This save cushion makes your Any Cushion meaningful and heart-warming with the portraits of threatened species listed in the IUCN redlist. ETUDE collaborated on this meaningful project with SUNGSIL HWARANG.”
I don’t know why, but I bought this thinking it was a DIY self-fillable cushion. It’s not. I completely forgot that Etude House has cushions called Any Cushion. I guess I need to make another haul…
5. My Scheming Q10 Collagen Firming Mask (2) – the free gifts!
(US$free.99) This is actually my first time seeing these masks! Why are they packaged horizontally?
I’m really interested in trying these out, but to be quite honest, I’m actually pretty wary of collagen in topical skincare products. There isn’t an excess amount of evidence of collagen being harmful, per se, but I’m more concerned that topical applications of collagen have been shown to be pretty ineffective. At that point, many iterations of collagen are not really in your skin and doing much; it’s just sitting there. Anyway, I’m starting to ramble here. I’m just so wary of the current widespread assumptions on collagen, I’m now pretty motivated to start writing an ingredient spotlight post about it. Like, right now. Okay, maybe not right now. Soon. Ish.
But for now, methinks I will soak in this pile of My Scheming.
Did you participate in YesStyle’s Beauty Sale last month? What’s your current favorite skincare/makeup item? ☺
Great haul! Everything is so adorable! Those books look amazing, and the contact case looks useful for travelling!
